MolecuLight Announces Availability of its MolecuLight App

TORONTO: MolecuLight Inc., The leader in point-of-care fluorescence imaging for real-time detection of bacteria in wounds, announces the availability of its MolecuLight i: X® platform on the “Epic App Orchard Marketplace” and the integration of its platform into Epic’s leading EMR platform known [EMR: Electronic Patient Record].

Users using Epic to treat wounds can upload standard and fluorescent images, as well as measurements taken with the MolecuLight i: X device at the point of care, to their patient record. The integrated platforms enable clinicians to optimize their workflow and digitally document their patients’ wounds. The MolecuLight i: X application – “iX Imaging” – is available on App Orchard  .

“We are proud to announce the addition of our MolecuLight i: X platform to the Epic App Orchard Marketplace. This gives customers the ability to create and access documentation about patient wounds, “said Anil Amlani, CEO of MolecuLight . The MolecuLight i: X is the only point-of-care device that enables clinicians to take wound images that are clinical Show significant bacteria – information that improves clinical decision-making to ensure the fastest path to healing is being taken. Incorporating this additional information into existing documentation logs gives clinicians a more complete set of data on wounds. ”

Wound practitioners using the Epic platform can benefit from the following built-in features of the MolecuLight i: X device:

  1. Simplified workflow for clinicians to take wound images and take measurements – to improve wound documentation.
  2. Wireless data transfer of standard and fluorescence images as well as measurements from the i: X device directly to the patient’s EMR. These fluorescent images enable clinicians to effectively assess the change in the bacterial status of a wound over time. At the same time, the effectiveness of the treatment can be assessed and clinical decision-making is improved.
  3. Facilities using multiple MolecuLight i: X devices in multiple locations can store and retrieve patient wound images and measurements in the EMR.
  4. HIPAA compliance ( no personal health information is stored on the MolecuLight i: X device).

In addition to being integrated with Epic, MolecuLight is introducing features of direct integration between its MolecuLight i: X device and various other leading EMR / EHR platforms and types of wound management software, including tissue analytics.

MolecuLight Inc. ( is a privately held medical imaging company that has developed proprietary fluorescence imaging platform technology and is commercializing it in multiple clinical markets. MolecuLight’s first commercially released device – the MolecuLight i: X® Fluorescence Imaging System and its accessories – is used for bacterial detection  and digital wound measurement  as well as a point-of-care handheld diagnostic tool for the global wound care market. The MolecuLight i: Xprovides clinicians with information about the fluorescent characteristics of wounds that contain bacteria to aid in better diagnosis and treatment decisions. The company is also commercializing its unique fluorescence imaging platform technology to other markets with unmet global needs, including food safety, consumer cosmetics and other key industrial markets.
